Will AI soon generate better images than we do? The hype around AI tools is massive, but the reality looks different. We’re doing the ultimate check: where AI outperforms us, where it fails miserably, and why premium 3D design doesn’t work without humans — at least not yet.

The headlines are everywhere: Generative AI creates images in seconds that would take a human hours. Tools like Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, or the newest AI models that generate 3D meshes (such as Luma AI) are shaking up the creative industry.
At Spinosi Media, we’re often asked: “Will we even need 3D studios in the future if the computer can do everything on its own?”
The answer is a clear: yes — now more than ever. But the role of the 3D artist is evolving. Here’s our honest take on it.
The “wow” effect vs. production readiness
No one denies that AI is impressive. We frequently use AI tools internally for ideation. If a client needs a moodboard for a futuristic city, AI can generate dozens of variations within minutes. It saves time and budget during pre-production.
The problem begins when it comes to actual technical execution.
Topology:
An AI-generated 3D model often has a “dirty” mesh. For static images, that might be fine — but the moment something needs to move, animate, or deform, errors appear.
Precision:
If a client says, “The product must match RAL 5005 blue exactly, and the edge needs a 2mm fillet,” AI simply can’t deliver. AI guesses how things look.
A 3D artist constructs them to specification.
AI is the copilot, not the pilot
We don’t see AI as a threat, but as a powerful turbocharger. It takes care of repetitive tasks — like quickly generating textures or upscaling reference images.
This gives us, at Spinosi Media, more time for what truly matters: creative direction, storytelling, and technical precision.
Conclusion: The symbiosis wins
The future doesn’t belong to AI alone — it belongs to artists who know how to wield AI masterfully. Clients don’t hire us just to press buttons; they hire us for our aesthetic understanding and the guarantee that the final result aligns perfectly with their brand guidelines.
AI is a powerful tool in our arsenal — but the eye for detail remains human.
